Civilian Spectator
Civilian in army lingo means: Spectator. However at Tank Driving Scotland you can upgrade your comrades to join you in the tank as your commander. They’ll join you for the full experience, being equipped with all the camouflage gear, the camo paint, (the crew cut), and take shots at you (photo and video only) from our secret bunker! – A whole different back seat driving experience!!
More info...
This is your chance to bring your chosen comrades with you in action. They too will get to experience the thrill of all the activities that you are taking part in.
Lots of people like to laugh at their wife and kids standing in the compound waving frantically and trying to get the best picture as they whizz past throwing mud in their trail.
Put a smile on their face too - Paying civilians are treated to full commando training: Camouflage cladding, Camouflage face paint to hide them from the enemy, and riding as your commander and corp in the vehicles crew compartment. They can each take turns standing out the commanders hatch directly behind you.. Navigating.. (no back seat drivers tolerated!)
They will also have exclusive access to our track centre ‘Secret’ observation bunker where they can shoot you (Photo/Video) till their heart’s content. The best picture and video angles on site are achieved from the bunker as the tank swings over the top of the steep mounds and splashes through the water dip! - Not to be missed…
Kids Party Additional Places
Use this voucher to add additional places to your kids party. This applies to every child over the 8 included in the standard package price.
New Recruit Experience
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to drive a real army tank? Wonder no more! Grouped with other drivers you will each test your skills on our off road course in this introductory tank driving experience.
More info...
The New Recruit experience is a grouped activity allowing you to experience the thrill of driving a real 18 tonne army tank! The rest of the troop will be in the crew compartment, so you will have to negotiate the obstacles on the course with consideration (only a little)!
Geared up in army kit, you will firstly have the opportunity to experience traveling in the hull with your troops. We do have seats, but not much else in there. Our tanks are ex-military and have all seen active service - you will see the bullet holes for yourself! This gives you a chance to see what real soldiers encounter, and all you have to worry about is telling your friends what a great time you had!
You will also act as commander during the experience, standing out of the hatch directly behind the driver. We’ll drop you off at the observation bunker in the centre of the course, where you’ll also have a great opportunity to take some shots at your comrades (Photographic or video of course)!
After your experience, as long as the tank comes back in one piece, you will be awarded a Tank Driving Scotland Certificate of Achievement. (Looks good on the wall). Your group will be a maximum of 6 people, who will all have the opportunity to drive. You’ll be with us for around an hour and a half. New Recruit experiences run on set days each month.
The New Recruit Experience is a fantastic outing. It makes for a great gift, or we won’t judge if you treat yourself to some excitement. Please note to drive our tanks, you must be over 5ft in height. If you are under 5ft, you can come as a Civilian or Commander for a ride in the vehicles.

On your arrival at Tank Driving Scotland headquarters, we will transform you quicker than Superman changing in a phone box to look like a real squaddie! Equipped with your Kevlar helmet and your camouflage gear, the only optional bit is the camouflage face paint. Before being marched out to the tank track, we do make sure you know the basic controls of the vehicle. How to steer, where the accelerator is, and most importantly… the brakes! It’s a common misconception that people think all big things (i.e. space shuttles and tanks) are complicated to drive. You will manage! Weighing in at over 18 tonnes, our tanks have 6.8 litre supercharged Rolls Royce engines. These powerful engines are what allow the vehicles to navigate the most taxing of terrain. The Major General is a one-to-one experience – where you will enjoy personal tuition with one of our instructors. During this time, you will come into contact with some pretty large humps and bumps! We do a flat drive first, then some small humps, then onto a few rather large ones. Also, Scottish weather permitting, a 'sheep-dip' drive through water (no sheep are actually involved or harmed during this experience). Why not bring your friends or family with you on the day of your experience? They can ride in the tank with you, or take shots (Photo and video) from our observation bunker in the centre of the course. Please see our Civilian Voucher for further details. After your experience, as long as the tank comes back in one piece, you will be awarded a Tank Driving Scotland Certificate of Achievement. (looks good on the wall). You’ll be with us for around an hour and receive personal one-to-one tank driving for a minimum of half an hour. The Major General Experience is exhilarating, challenging and something you will not forget in a hurry! Book it as a great gift for family or friends, or go-on, treat yourself! Car Crush Experience
Had a bad week at work? We guarantee Tank Driving Scotland’s crush a car experience can help alleviate your stress! Learn to drive an 18 tonne tank, and finish your experience with squashing a car!
More info...
At Tank Driving Scotland, we believe that squashing a car has been clinically proven to relieve stress, increase endorphins and offer you the experience of a lifetime. (Please note that Tank Driving Scotland’s views are not ‘scientifically proven’ – so please don’t send a letter pointing that out).
Crushing a car is not actually as easy as it looks. You need to be capable of handling one of our tanks, and able to control the vehicle over the car to ensure maximum squashage. This is why we take you out tank driving off-road first, so you actually get to enjoy two experiences in one!!
As part of the Crush a Car experience, you can bring your own car! We will knock off £50 from the price of the experience, and even get rid of the scrap for you. We do ask that any valuables are removed, and signage such as ‘Baby on Board’ taken down, as this could confuse the spectators.
Although we think everyone should crush a car in their lifetime, we appreciate this is not the cheapest of experiences. It is however very worthwhile!! If you work in the corporate world, this is an excellent way to finish your troops day of tank driving, where we will judge all the drivers from the day, and first place earns the car crush.
Crushing a car is also an excellent treat for hen/stag events, where everyone has an opportunity to take part in the driving fun on our other packages, with the ultimate ending reserved for the bride, or groom to be. If you all chip in, it’ll be worth it, honest!
Why not bring your friends or family with you on the day of your experience? (You can’t put mother in law in the car I’m afraid). Please see our Civilian Voucher for further details.
After your experience, as long as the tank comes back in one piece, you will be awarded a Tank Driving Scotland Certificate of Achievement. (looks good on the wall). You’ll be with us for around one and a half hours during this fantastic experience.
